Laws regarding Spitting and Urinating in public. In India government offices, malls, restaurants, and many more public places are full of spitted pan masala and gutka or urinated. But Is spitting and urinating in public an offense? What are the laws relating to this?
It is surely an offense.
The Municipal Corporation of different states takes care of this. They impose fines and penalties on the culprit. Although after imposing many taxes and laws regarding these things are very common in India. This is certainly because of the lack of enforcement staff.
What does the Indian Penal Code have to say:
Section 290 of the Indian Penal Code makes the act of passing urine in any public place a public nuisance and a punishable offense, attracting a fine of Rs 200. The act must cause any common injury, danger, or annoyance to the public or to the people in general, who dwell or occupy property in the vicinity.
