This post is not to scorn any police official. Not all police are the same but some often violate the law and do capricious actions in front of decent guiltless people.
Table of Contents
Incident 1 :
If police stop you and demand your vehicle’s POC, Registration Certificate (RC), pollution certificate, and Insurance Papers. So do we need to show them all the papers?
Section 207 Motor Vehicle Act :
Power to detain vehicles used without a certificate of registration permit, etc.
This allows the official to do so.
Impotency to show any of these may result in a fine.
Make sure fines(Chalan) can only be charged by an ASI, SI, or an inspector. A constable or Sub-Constable cannot fine you unless there is an ASI or Inspector present.
If you are stopped by the police for scrutiny and vigorously take your keys and start beating you then it’s your right to make a video of them and make them not do so without being aggressive.
This violates section 323 of IPC,
” Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt. —Whoever, except in the case provided for by section 334, voluntarily causes hurt, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both”.
