Can you modify your bike ?
Can you modify your bike ? Two-wheelers, such as motorcycles and scooters, are as much a style statement as a means of transport. This is the reason people tend to customize their two-wheelers. You may see a lot of tastefully modified bikes. A lot of effort and consideration goes into modifying these vehicles. If you are also planning to modify your bike, you must understand a few important things before you embark on the exercise.
Remember that modifications to the vehicle have to be registered with your RTO as well as endorsed in two-wheeler insurance.
As per a 2019 ruling by the Supreme Court, vehicles cannot be modified in such a manner that they significantly alter the original specifications made by the manufacturer.
Paint jobs, for example, are still allowed as long as the same is done within RTO limitations. Similarly, the fitment of small accessories, such as decals, visors, and engine fairing is still within the legal limits. Make sure that you get professionals to do these jobs
Many people tend to remove the side mirrors from their bikes or scooters as the very first modification. Doing that can invite a challan of around Rs 1,000. Make sure that every modification you do to your vehicle improves its functionality first and then looks.
