List of top law entrance exams in India
A career in the field of law is becoming more and more relevant nowadays. The massive increase in employment opportunities and huge demand for law school graduates has made law a promising career path.
So, to pursue a career in law, you need to graduate from law school. Now, this raises the question of which law school? Even if you shortlist the law schools you want to get into, which entrance exams to give?
How to choose which entrance exam to give?
There are many law entrance exams to give in India, but which is the best one for you?
For this, you need to understand your requirements and desires from a law school.
For example:- If you are a dropper, this might be your last attempt, you would wanna fill all the forms so that at least you get in at least one law school. But if you are fresher, you would want to fill forms for only top law schools as you can afford to take a drop and prepare again.
So, keeping in mind how different types of students should fill in different entrance forms, we have tried to prepare a list covering almost all of them.
List of law entrance exams every aspirant must give.
CLAT (Common Law Admission Test)
This is the biggest law entrance exam in India. It is filled by almost all of the law aspirants as it allows admission into the top 23 national law schools in India.
Not only NLUs but many other law schools use CLAT score to take admission into their law school.
AILET (All India Law Entrance Test)
This paper is taken for NLU Delhi only. Not only it gives you admission to one of the top 3 law school in India, but AILET score is also accepted by many other law schools.
MH-CET Law(Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law)
Although this a state-level paper, but many good law schools especially in Pune and Mumbai accept candidates using the MH-CET scorecard.
Also, a huge number of law schools in all of Maharashtra accepts the MH-CET scorecard.

- LSAT – Law School Admission Test
- SLAT – Symbiosis Law Admission Test
As you are a fresher, you would wanna only fill for the best colleges as you can afford to take a drop if you do not get into your desired college.
(Fresher is a student who is giving his law school entrance exam in the same year he has passed his 12th board exam.
Or fresher can be those candidates who are willing to take a drop.)

- KIITEE Law – Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Entrance Exam(law)
As you are a dropper, it is recommended that you fill all the forms so that you can have a lot of options at your disposal, this being your last attempt.
