Is it legal to use After Market Exhaust or Silencer For Motorcycle ? It is a very common practice among bikers to modify their stock exhaust system to a loud aftermarket exhaust system. You must often have to experience loud exhaust noise from motorcycles. it has become one of the major issues now it creates lots of noise pollution. The aftermarket exhaust system looks fancy but the question here is Is it legal to use Aftermarket Exhaust or Silencer For Motorcycle?
According to the Motor vehicle act the sound level produced from the exhaust system of a motorcycle should not exceed 80 decibels.
You can buy any aftermarket exhaust for your motorcycle but it should not produce a sound of more than 80 decibels. if you buy any aftermarket exhaust which produces a sound of more than 80 decibels you may be fined and it’s illegal.
When you purchase a new bike and the exhaust system which is by default installed in the bike it is legal to use that despite how loud it is. Once it is registered by the RTO it’s legal to use that silencer.
Using an aftermarket exhaust system is very common among royal Enfield users. Royal enfiled users can buy aftermarket exhaust system which is manufactured by the company as it complies with the motor vehicle act.
Generally, people install aftermarket silencers to produce a loud sound and it has become a nuisance these days government is taking strict measures against them. Its always recommended to use an aftermarket exhaust system which is provided by the company as it complies with the motor vehicle act and it produces a sound level of fewer than 80 decibels.
